Always claim your free Accidental Death Insurance if you book tickets via IRCTC using your Credit Card

If you book your railway ticket online using a credit card on IRCTC, dont forget to claim your Insurance Policy for free. All it costs is about 1 min to fill your details such as date of journey, name, date of birth, etc. They instantaneously sms & email you a verification code, which you enter in the final step and simply save/print your policy pdf. Don’t forget to email it to your friends and family.

The policy is valid for 30 days from the date of your journey and gives you a coverage of upto Rs.100,000. Of course, I will always pray that you/your family doesn’t have to use this policy ever. However, if you are entitled to free insurance, no harm in activating it. You will receive the insurance link in the email after you book your ticket. It reads:

You are entitled to a Free Personal Accident Insurance – no strings attached. This policy is valid for 1 month from date of departure only. This exclusive offer is brought to you by IRCTC. Offer only applies to the individual who has purchased tickets on IRCTC using their credit card.The individual availing the policy should be a registered member at www.irctc.co.in. Any other individual will not be eligible for the same.

The company behind the coverage is TATA AIG Insurance. IMHO, I would trust them more than Reliance and TATA was the reason I actually bothered signing up in the first place.
